Water Regardless

dip pond water from bucket
to barrel,
and you still have pond water

pull tap water from faucet
to glass
and you still have tap water

a very long time ago
in the 50's and maybe even later
we were treated to news stories
which told us the human body
was 70% water
(or was it 80
or even 90?)

and that the nonwater parts
were worth about $5.00 in then dollars
adjusted to for inflation,
down from $5.08 more or less

or maybe I only noticed the stories
more then and they still run them
on slow news days
and the human body price adjusted
is now worth less than a popsicle
any flavor
except possibly root beer

if you boil water
to until the air fuzzy
you still have water

if you freeze water
hard as fossils
you still have water

it is awfully hard
to hold water
in a pot
with a hole in it

even if with a pile
of scrap tin
and a new solder gun
